You can get invovled!

I know. I know I just posted about not worrying. And I’m not. But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to act when given the chance. So I’m cross posting this one everywhere I can, bear with me.

HSLDA has given us a chance to sign a petition. The petition requests that the California Courts “depublish” the recent ruling against homeschooling. This means that the ruling would apply only to that specific family, and not to the whole state. Please. Go. Sign it. You do not have to be a member of HSLDA. You do not even have to be a homeschooler. But if you value parental rights, please, sign it.

I’m also not the only one who has made the link between this ruling and S.B. 777. Dr. James Dobson has joined the fight on the side of parents, and his team also made the connection. You can listen to his broadcast about this battle here.

Please, help the parents of California stem the erosion of parental rights. Sign the petition.

Thanks.

  1. Hmm… I’m somewhat concerned about the role of HSLDA in this. I think we should wait, let cooler heads prevail, and only react to an actual threat. Right now this is just a ruling from one court — there’s no change in the law. I’m not saying you’re wrong or I’m right — just not ready to go march in the street on this one yet. 🙂

  2. The problem is, there was a change to how the law was interpreted. As per several CA state orgs, this petition and course of action – depublishing the ruling – is the best course of action to protect homeschoolers in CA.

And don’t think for a second that if they can get away with it there, they won’t try it here, or anywhere else in the Nation. Ask Nebraska, where homeschoolers just barely defeated legislation that would have done the same thing – required homeschool parents to be certified teachers. We have to be vigiliant, and protect our rights as a whole, or we will lose them, one by one.
