Live Together, Die Alone – 2.23

The Season Finale…  It’s a long one!  like two hours long…  The flashback this week was Desmond! You remember the guy they found in that hatch at the begining of the season? Well, apparently after skipping out on the LOSTies, he hopped in his sailboat and went due west ofr the last 12 days. by his figures, he should have been in Fiji by now, but no, he’s back at the dang hatch. How frustrating must that be? We learn that his sweetheart was a girl named Penelope. Desmond was kicked out of the scottish army, dishonorably. not sure why, and I don’t think they ever really explained that. But after he is released from Prison, the father of his girlfriend offers him ALOT of money to just go away. Calls Dessi a coward, which I think means that his dishonorable discharge and imprisonment were due to some cowardly act. Dessi winds up in a starbucks where he meets, who else, Libby! Freaky how she keeps popping up in the wierdest places. Anyway, we learn that Dessi needs a boat to go round the world in a race, and Libby just happens to have one that her now dead hubby left her. Libby gives Dessi the keys to the Elizabeth, the boat her dearly departed named for her. *As far as Libby goes, it’s possible that her institutionalization was due in part to the death of her hubby. We are not told how he died, only that he is dead, and his name was David. An interesting tidbit considering Hugo’s imaginary friend Dave.* Anyway, Dessi winds up in the middle of some storm, and crashes on the Island, when he wakes up, he’s in a hatch with Kelvin. From there we learn lots about the hatch, like that Ruzinski, Kelvin’s former partner started the map, and Kelvin has been working on it. They have a way to trip the blast doors to bring them down.

Meanwhile, in Hatchland, Locke has decided that the button is a farce, and he needs to stop Eko. He doesn’t want Eko to become a slave to the button like he was. he finds dessi, and has dessi help him lock Eko out. Locke then tells Dessi about the Pearl Hatch, and then Dessi reads through the printouts from the pearl, and decides that the Pearl was the psycological experiement, and the button is real! He proves this because on September 22 2004, he followed Kelvin out to the boat, and killed Kelvin instead of pushing the button. by the time he got back, there was a system failure, which somehow righted itself. Septemper 22, 2004, was also the day the LOSTies Flight 815 fell out of the sky. Dessi thinks he brought down the plane that day. Meanwhile, Eko gets Charlie to help him try to blow up the blast doors, cuz I guess he forgot they were “blast doors” or something. Eko succeeds in nearly blowing himself up, but that’s about it.

Meanwhile in “Adventures with Others” Sayid’s grand plan is to use the sailboat to come around by sea and “sneak up” on the others. while letting Jack, Sawyer, Kate, and Hugo follow Mike into what is surely a trap. so why did he think that he could “sneak up” on anyone in a big sailboat?
Some notes in progress as I find things and remember things….

Kelvin = the guy who supposedly “made” Sayid a torturer.

Date of the crash – Septebmer 22, 2004. Keep in mind, TV time is different, the LOSTies have only been there about 2 months.

Elizabeth (who gave Desmond the boat) = Libby. said her husband was David. Could this be the Dave in Hurley’s imagination? is that why Libby was in the mental ward? trying to find her dearly departed? Rumor control has it that we will find out in Season 3.

Did you catch Jack in Desmond’s flashback? at the stadium, that was Jack headed up the stairs to run.

Desmond blows up the hatch. or did he really?? and did Locke and Eko survive? or did they get exploded? what abou Dessi? did he make it?

Dessi thinks he brought down the plane with the super secret weird electromagneitc whacamacallit… He also thinks the guys in the Pearl station were who the psyc experiement was being done on.

Did you see the pile of notebooks?? what a wonderful cache of information about the island life!! I would love to have a few days to just sit and read a few of those things!

Dessi’s Hunny, Penelope, is actually the daughter of Mr. Widmore, head of Widmore constructions, and Widmore labs. and somehow connected to Hanso and Dharma.

Penny had some russians (or maybe italians, not sure) looking for wierd Electromagnetic anomolys. at the end, when they find it (becuz dessi supposedly blew up the hatch) they call her and say It’s us, we think we found him. Huh?? does that mean that Penny knew daddy Widmore goaded Dessi into sailing around the world to get dessi trapped on the island? and for real, I think maybe the island itself moves. Otherwise wouldn’t the Widmores and Hanso know where it was??

On Jimmy Kimmel show, Hugh McIntyre said that Hanso stopped funding Dharma in 1987. If that’s true…. who is supplying the island with DharmaO’s?

Somehow, Kate and Jack have a secret code. did you see the unspoken message in their little stare down just before the bags got put over their heads??

The “Vaccine” If it is that. I don’t think it is anymore. I think that it is part of Hanso’s Life Extension program. Afterall, they got Joop the monkey to live for over 105 years… a secret island with a bunch of guys that world has presumed dead would be the perfect place to do a bit of human testing with worry about the FDA or the CDC or any of those other pesky government agencies. You know?

What’s with the 4 toed ankle of a much larger, now missing, statue?
