Bless your family

Last Sunday, and yes, I’m late with the write up of something that has been pressing on my heart – that’s what happens around here.   Anyway, last Sunday, the sermon was about Love and Affirmation, and blessing your children, and how God has blessed us.

The Pastor quoted Bobb Biehl’s 8 insatiable needs of a person:

  • Loved
  • Significant
  • Admired
  • Recognized
  • Appreciated
  • Secure
  • Respected
  • Accepted

He also listed the 5 blessings of a family as found in Gary Smalley’s book, Gift of the Blessing, then backed them up with Scriptural examples of how God has blessed us:

  •  Meaningful touch (Eph 1:4)
  • Spoken Word (Eph 1:9)
  • Attaching a high value to the one being blessed (Eph 1:5)
  • Picturing a special future for the one being blessed (Eph 1:10-11)
  • an active commitment to fulfill the blessing. (Eph 1:12, Phil. 1:6, 4:19)

It’s something I’ve been thinking over all week.  I’m going to take some time today or tomorrow and write up a few blessings, not just for my kids, but for my DH as well.  Not sure if I will post them here (Maybe I’ll post a censored, internet safe version.  Depends on how I feel about it after I write them.), but I will do this.
