God is in control.

Obviously, I was, and still am very against this bailout.

Oddly enough, I am at peace with the Congress’s actions.  Because as it became obvious that the vote was not going to go the way I was hoping and praying it would, I felt the peace of God settle in my heart.

I don’t know why He allowed this.  Maybe this is supposed to be a wake-up call for the American people.  I can hope that it is.

For the record, I believe this whole “economic crisis” that isn’t, is the October surprise. Oh, and by the way, I said that before Rush Limbaugh did, so I’m not spouting talking points here. Will it hurt the Republicans? Probably.  I believe Conservatives are way harder are our representatives then Liberals are. After all, the same batch of Democrats on the hill have been promising the same things for what, 50 years?  Yet the Democrats keep voting them in, term after term.  But then, maybe that was the point of this.  The vast majority of Americans did not want this.  Not Just Republicans.  Not just Conservative Reaganites. The Vast Majority of the American people.  We can hope & pray that this vote will lead to a shake up on Capitol Hill.

For what it’s worth, I just heard what I think is possibly the best joke about this bailout on SNL of all places.  Seth Meyers on Weekend Update:  “Remember that house you couldn’t pay for…  you’re paying for it.”

Bailout FAIL.

I will not trade tomorrow’s freedoms for prosperity today.

This is a great follow up video to the one I posted a few days ago.  America, take note who covered for these companies, and who it was that was trying to blow the whistle years ago.

Even my 5 year old understands that this “Bailout” is a bad idea. My FIVE year old!  When explaining this to my kids this morning, I asked them, where do you think the government will get the money for this?  My 5 year old Diva said, “From us.”

Let me break this down…  Here is what happened:

Way back under President Jimmy Carter, The Community Reinvestment Act was enacted that forced banks to offer sub-prime mortgages – essentially mortgages to people with bad credit and little hope of actually paying them off.  This was made even worse under the Clinton Administration.  In order to avoid the losses, banks would sell these bad, risky mortgages to Fannie May & Freddie Mac.  The FMs then sold packages of mortgage deals to investors, claiming that they were “riskless.”

When people defaulted on the loans, the investors had reason to worry.  Suddenly their investment was gone.  But where did the money go?  Into the pockets of Democrats like Chris Dodd and Barak Obama.  Franklin Raines managed to embezzle a couple of million from Fannie May before he left, and now he is advising Obama on all this!  Unreal.

Republicans tried to blow the whistle on all this.  as far back as 2003 the Bush Administration was calling for reform at Fannie & Freddie. McCain pushed for reform in 2005.  There are numerous other attempts by republicans to stop this from happening, but the Democrats stopped them every time.  Why?  Follow the money.

Meanwhile, the same people in the government who screwed this up are now the ones telling us that we have to throw huge wads of taxpayer cash at this and fix it. Ex-squeeze me, baking powder?  I don’t think so.

How’s this for a solution – Cut Taxes.  All of them.  Cut business tax, eliminate capitol gains tax, cut income tax, cut them all, and none of this, expires in 3 years crap, Cut them permanently.

Why would that work?  Economics 101, you ready?  It would keep the money in the hands of the people. Seriously.  Government types always fear that cutting tax mean they will have less money, but they are wrong!  If you cut the income tax, I can keep more of my money.  If I have more money, I can buy more things like, say, toys for my kids.  If alot of us have more money, and buy more toys, then the toy company has an increase in demand. That means they will have to hire new people to make the toys so they can keep the supply up with the demand.

Now, lets say we cut the tax burden on businesses.  Now those business get to keep more of their profit.  They get to put that money back into the business, and grow, which means more revenue. Growth means hiring more people.  Hiring more people means more people paying income tax! Growth can also mean giving raises, which means more people in the higher tax brackets.  Besides, 10% of 50.00$ is more then 30% of 10.00$.  So, charge the business of America a lower tax rate, allow for growth which leads to more tax, not less, as well as more employment, which equals more income tax revenue!

But now, the dreaded Capitol Gains tax.  Many people don’t understand this.  I don’t think Barak Obama understands this.  He keeps saying he will cut the capitol gains rate for small business, but small business does’t pay capitol gains, small business pays income tax on a Schedule C.  Capitol Gains is paid on money you would make if you play the stock market, more specifically, it’s money made selling stocks and bonds.  So if you buy a stock, no tax, but if you sell it for a profit, you will pay the tax.  So why should we cut this tax altogether?  Because investing in stocks and bonds helps our nation’s economy, and helps our nation grow.  More people would be willing to play the market if they weren’t concerned with the tax.

Yesterday, the market dropped 777 points.  Basically, that means alot of people were selling, but not alot were buying.  It’s the old supply and demand in effect again.  Big supply + low demand = lower prices.    But, if we eliminate the capitol gains tax…  Well, people wouldn’t worry about paying high taxes if they made a profit, and more people would jump in.   Small supply + big demand = higher prices.  Higher DOW, NASDAQ, S&P means better economy, more value to each stock, better chance of turning a profit, retirment accounts would be worth more, it’s a good thing!

But to just throw more money into a corrupt and failing system? That’s the very definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.  This “Bailout” is not the answer.  Tax cuts would be a great place to start.  Instead of handing the American people’s money over to a bunch of banks and government agencies that failed us the first time, let us keep the money and invest it how we see fit, be it a home, a car, or a big screen tv.

The true reason "pro-choicers" are hating on Bristol Palin

I’ve seen a few places online where women, specifically pro-choice women, are just viscious in their attacks against Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin’s teenaged pregnant daughter, for her decision to marry the father of her unborn child.  Why?  First of all, why is it any of our damn beeswax what Bristol does?  She is not her mother any more then I am mine.

Truly, what’s the worst that could happen for young Bristol?  She could wind up a statistic, yet another young, failed marriage that ends in divorce.  It could turn into a loveless marraige that she, like thousands of other people around the globe, will hang on to for the sake of the child.  Or, just maybe, she could wind up like thousands of others who married their high school sweetheart and find their “happy ever after.”

Marrying young is nothing new.  To decry this marriage as a “shotgun” wedding, or declare that she is being forced to marry because of her mother’s political career ignore the fact that significant pressure would have to be applied to the boy and his family as well.  The truth is, we are not privy to Britsol or her fiance’s thoughts.  We were not there in the Palin family meetings to hear how this decision came about.  What we hear are those women who, looking through the lens of their own prejudices and experiences, have decided that this would be bad for them or their children.  Most of those hating on Bristol are Democrats who see this as a political strategy.  Why?  Why does it have to be a political strategy?  Why can’t it simply be a couple of kids in love, one of whom has a mother in politics?

It’s because Bristol has choosen life.  She has choosen to give birth rather then have her kid sucked into a sink.  The pro-abortion folks just don’t know how to respond to this family.  Afterall, if Bristol can have the kid and be happily married at a young, why, other girls might try it too. Can’t have any of that.  There is even a doctor in Canada worried that the exsistence of baby Trig will lessen the amount of abortions of Down-Syndrome kids! (via Spunky)

In a discussion about this very topic, I’ve been informed that because I support Palin, I’m in favor of “wire hangers and back-alley abortions.”  I’ve been called “anti-choice”, because apparently if you are against one choice, you are against them all.  I’ve also been lumped in with the fringe extreme anti-birth control bunch, while at the same time being told not to lump all “pro-choicers” together with the extremist “pro-abortion” crowd.  Irony much?

Truth is, McCain is right when he says Roe V Wade was a bad legal decision.  There was no legal support for what the Justices did on this one, check into it.  And for the record – neither McCain nor Palin will actively work to overturn Roe V Wade.  If the reactionary pro-aborts would just read McCain’s platform, they’d see he doesn’t want to end abortion, he wants that decision to be turned over to the individual states, where it belongs.  “…returning the abortion question to the individual states.”  This is McCain’s way of placating the pro-life radicals and staying in the middle ground where he loves to be.  Do I agree with him, no.  But am I a single-issue voter? No. I can see past this issue.

Much as I hate it, Roe v Wade is, unfortunately the law, despite it’s iffy legality.  What McCain/Palin will do, is appoint strict Constitutionalists judges, who will interpret the law, not make stuff up out of thin air, and who will not enforce “international law” on us. I don’t live in Germany, German law has no place presiding over me, yet there are judges today who are doing just that, using other country’s laws to rule on Americans.  Not cool.  That is what they will try to stop.

But regardless, I’ve been informed that I am a bad feminist, or not a feminist at all because I am pro-life.  I guess the “sisterhood” is only open to those who support abortion.  You know what?  Count me out.

Tired of high gas prices? Thank these guys.

One would have thought that leading Democratic senators who claim to be interested in finding other sources of funding to replace American dollars in Iraq, in helping Iraq spend its own money on its own people, and in lowering the price of gasoline for American citizens, would have been all for it. Instead, Senators Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, and Claire McCaskill wrote a letter to Secretary of State Rice asking her “to persuade the GOI [Government of Iraq] to refrain from signing contracts with multinational oil companies until a hydrocarbon law is in effect in Iraq.” The Bush administration wisely refused to do so, but the resulting media hooraw in Iraq led to the cancellation of the contracts, and helps to explain why Iraq is doing oil deals instead with China.  <- source ->

I can not believe this.  Wait, yes, I do.  These three democrats, while not as overtly treasonous as Pelosi and Obama, none the less meddled with our nation’s foriegn policy, allies, and our economy.  You do realize that these people completely screwed us over and are partially responsible for today’s high gas prices?  Think about it, do you think that OPEC would be able to hike the price as much if our nation’s oil comapnies had access to Iraqi oil?  Now Obama & the Democrats are trying to say that Iraq owes us big time.  Well, they do, but they could have paid some of that back in oil.  Not anymore thanks to these three musketeers.

Outrage, myths, and nonsense.

The latest Obama ad, “Still”, pisses me off.  I was going to link to it, but you know what, I’m not.  Because I will not allow that tripe to air on my blog. you want to see it, check youtube.com for “Obama Still”

The ad uses a quote from McCain that he doesn’t use the computer and has never sent an email to claim that he’s out of touch with today’s technology.  What the asswipes running Obama’s advertising failed to realize – John McCain is not scared of technology, or out of touch with today’s generation.  He is physically unable to use a keyboard. Because they tortured him in Vietnam and broke his body.  He is too classy to point that out & doesn’t like to bring it up, unlikely Kerry who would manage to work Vietnam into every freakin’ sentence.  Here’s a clip from Fox&Friends where they discuss this very thing:

So who’s “out of touch” here huh?  Maybe the next time the Obama campaign wants to run an ad they should use Google to check their facts first.  This just makes me so furious.  It’s one thing to question a man/woman’s policy, but to make fun of a man who was tortured in Vietnam while you were smoking weed and trying cocaine…  well, that’s just not cool.  Not cool.

Oh, and for the record – I am so freaking tired of the old “But everyone has experiemented” arguement.  You know what?  I did not.  I have never tried drugs, never smoked a cigarette, and never had even a sip of alcohol.  So quit telling me “everyone” has.  I haven’t.

Oh, and to ice this freakin cake – Have ya’ll seen this??  Obama went to Iraq, and tried to convince the Iraqi’s not to do anything until after the election!  <- Source ->

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops – and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its “state of weakness and political confusion.”

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (whose party is a member of the Socialist International) sees Obama as “a man of the Left” – who, once elected, might change his opposition to Iraq’s liberation. Indeed, say Talabani’s advisers, a President Obama might be tempted to appropriate the victory that America has already won in Iraq by claiming that his intervention transformed failure into success.

The Iraqis get it!  Barack Hussien Obama wants to be able to take credit for victory that Bush & the military have fought for.  And don’t miss the point where he tried to get Gen. Patraeus to give him a “realistic date.”  He isn’t Patraeus’ boss yet, he’s got no right to make those demands! And for those who doubt that he would ever really do this, his campaign admitted it!  To go over there and meddle in foreign affairs before he gets the job, well that’s downright treasonous! For real.  AHHH!  The nerve!  Obama and Pelosi both need to move to Iran and stay there.

But, truly, could we expect anything less for a man who took his campaign for President of the United States to Germany?  Like they can vote for him, really.  I say if he wants to be a “citizen of the world”, then by all means, find another country to live in, please.

But hey, when you’ve got friends like Bill Ayers & Jeremiah Wright…  well…  Quite frankly, I don’t want you to be my husband’s next boss.

Much love for Palin.

I love this woman.  Until now, I haven’t found much to be thrilled about with this race.  Because Barak Hussien Obama is a friggin Commie, I was all set to hold my nose and vote McCain.  I don’t *love* McCain, his views don’t always line up with mine.  But Palin.  Now,

Dana Loesch has a great post about what the attacks on Palin mean to feminism.  Love it.

I so have more to say, but frankly life is moving so fast these days.  Spent the evening at GeekBoy’s first soccer practice.  He likes playing goalie.  I’m off to ice my foot and watch the NYGiants beat up the ‘Skins.

Insane in the membrane

how stupid is this:

“We could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups. You’d actually save just as much.”

Guess who said that?  just guess?

Did you guess yet?  No, not Nancy Pelosi.  She’s the ID10T who thinks that releasing 70 million barrels from the Strategic Oil Reserves – you know, the emergency fund of oil – would actually make a difference.  HA!  Nope. Not her.  Guess again.

Wait.  Did you say, Barack?  As in Barack Hussien Obama?  Ding ding ding!  You’re a Winner!

Yes.  The man running for the office of President of the United States actually said that just getting our cars tuned up and inflating the tires would save oil. (Source)  In-freaking-sane!  Where does he come up with this crap?

Seriously.  The man scares me.  His stand on education is positively frightening.  First he wants infants in school (Check his website, the Zero-to-Five plan. It’s scary.), then he wants to turn our middle school, high school, & college kids into some kind of volun-told force to “serve their country”.  Serve what?  Drinks? Dinners? Him? Serve what/who?  Then he tells us we need to learn Spanish, and he’s embarrassed that all we can say when visiting Europe is “Merci Boucoup,” then went to Germany and held a pep rally in English.  Sidebar: What the hell is a presidential candidate doing holding campaign rallies in Germany?  They can’t freakin’ vote for him!  And this “citizen of the world” crap?  You know what, the world can freakin’ keep him, I don’t want him here! And every speech of his is the same!  Hope. Change. Unity. Hope that we can change, and bring unity.  It’s all the freaking same!  Someone please, please tell me…  What the hell does he want to change?  Yes, he’s for change.  So am I.  I change my underwear ever freakin day.  So what the heck is it he wants to change?

And now he comes out with this glittering gem of colossal ignorance.  Puh-leaze!  If it was that easy to conserve fuel, don’t you think we’d have done it already? And really, tune-ups and proper tire care, those things are not about conserving fuel.  That is just general care and maintenance needed to improve the life of your car, and yes, we already maintain our cars to keep them running in top condition.  As far as I can tell, it hasn’t improved our fuel bill one bit.

The answer to high gas prices – create more supply.  When supply is greater then demand, price will come down.  Even my seven year old knows this!  Why doesn’t the man running for the highest office in the land?

Let's get political…

So, John Culberson ignited a bit of a firestorm on Twitter & in the blogosphere this week. Wait, you don’t know who he is? Don’t feel bad, I didn’t either until this week. John Culberson is the Republican Representative from the 7th district in Texas. Seems he’s been using Twitter since the end of May. And earlier this week, in a move to “loosen” the rules regarding Congressional websites, certain Dem’s tried to pass a rule that would have effectively cut off everything but approved websites (Read: a special channel on YouTube). It’s been a long week, and really, so many others have written this up so much more effectively. Check out TechnoSailor’s take on this here or here, or just go straight to the heart of the issue with Let Our Congress Tweet.

While I’m talking politics… Have ya’ll heard some of the crazy stuff Obama wants for our children? I mean, infants in school to prepare them for preschool is crazy enough, Now he wants to turn our kids; middle, high, and college level, into an unpaid workforce by making them all “serve their country.” Not only that, but he’s embarrassed by our country’s lack of linguistics. Apparently, he thinks that we should all be like
the Europeans. Seriously, the reason they “all speak English” Mr. Obama, is that they need to deal with us! And really, he opens his speech with this gem,

“Now, I agree that immigrants should learn English. I agree with that. But, but, understand this. Instead of worrying about whether, uh, immigrants can learn English — they’ll learn English — you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish.”

Thing is, I’ve got in-laws who are immigrants, and as much as I love them, they don’t speak English.  They haven’t learned to because they haven’t needed to.  They can understand English, but they don’t speak it.  Now, i teach my kids Spanish.  But I teach them Spanish because it’s their heritage, their culture.  And because I want them to be able to talk to their great-grandmother.  But I do not think that every child in America should be forced to learn a foreign language.  We live in America so we have the choice.  If you choose to be bilingual, great!  If not, well, that’s fine too.

Spunky has been following Obama and doing a great job of bringing some of this ridiculousness to light.

And that’s enough for one night.  I’m off to enjoy what’s left of the movie with my DH.

ID10ts like this are why responsible parents have problems

This dumbass woman is suing Walgreens and Tylenol because she gave her 4 month old baby 2, count them, 2 different medications.  Both meds were essentially the same thing.  So she overdosed the kid by giving him double doses of the same med.  But because the FDA said the drugs she used were bad for babies 6 days after she bought and administered the drugs, she thinks she has a case.  Ugh.

Druggies, and people like this are why more and more OTCs are being yanked off the shelf and put behind the counter.  But don’t worry, once they get all the OTCs behind the counter, making you get a prescription for cold medicine…   They’ll give us Universal Healthcare, and make us wait 6 months to a year for a doctor appointment.  By the time we get in, we’ll either be healthy or dead.  Ugh.
