Dime Bank – back

Dime Bank – back

  • Caption: This is a vintage HB Hardenburg Novelty Co. Lucky Horseshoe dime bank. This particular bank does not have a date on it, however this model of dime bank was popular between 1911 – 1914. The bank was to be attached to a key chain or charm bracelet. When closed, it holds nine dimes, adding the tenth dime forces it to pop open, releasing a dollar’s worth of dimes. It was billed as a way to encourage saving money, and such a fun little gizmo that one could not help but stash every dime you come across into the bank. As if to verify that sentiment, the very first thing my 10 yr old wanted to do when I recieved it, was shove dimes into it.
