Survivor Cook Islands: Classic Blunders

If you’re like me, the players in this season have you shouting things at your TV like, “How could you be so stupid?!?” and “What the heck are you thinking?”

Hiki made the first classic Survivor blunder by booting their leader. Although they had the best morale at camp, they lost the first challenge. The men blundered when the tribe was told that as the challenge losers, they would get to choose someone to go to Exile Island. The two guys jumped out to look over the other tribes, and made a decision without ever once consulting the three women on the tribe. I don’t know a woman on earth who, in that position, would be perfectly OK with that action. Yet these three were all, “oh yea, that’s fine, you know, it’s ok.” That was Sekou’s final fatal mistake. He had taken control of camp, of building the shelter, and getting things going back at camp even though everyone openly joked about their lack of Jungle Skillz. But leaving the women, the majority of your tribe, out of a big, possibly game-altering decision, stupid, stupid, stupid. Adios Sekou. Nice knowin’ ya.

Next up, Aitu. First, throwing a challenge is the stupidest thing you could possibly do on this show, especially when you haven’t even done 2 challenges yet!! What the heck were they thinking? Yes. Billy screwed up by not helping out more around the camp. But in his defense, he’s a heavy metal guy, so he’s already on the outs from the rest of his tribe. True he wasn’t making much of an effort to make friends and influence people. But his thinking was, I have no idea what to do. They all seem to know what they are doing. I’ll just stay out of their way. But you know, none of the others made a concious effort to get to know the big guy. Nobody said to him, “hey, you know I could use some help.” They just expected him to read their minds and *know* what needed to be done. But honestly, to throw a challenge, when your not even 2 episodes in… what the heck are they thinking?? There is no possible way that anyone on that tribe can trust Ozzy now. Next time Aitu loses, I predict the women will convince JD that they are all better off without Ozzy. So long Billy. Good luck in your next adventure.

I predict there will be many more classic Survivor blunders this year. When you take into account that the people on this season are not necessarily Survivor fans, it makes sense.  These are, for the most part, Amazing Race rejects and folks casting found on MySpace.  So you already find yourself throwing things at the TV, get used to it.  It’s going to be a long season.
